Our 2021 List of the Best Things to Do in Oklahoma City This Halloween

Autumn is in the air as an October chill makes its way through Oklahoma City. Okay, actually it’s still 73 degrees and sunny, but it is indeed still spooky season in Oklahoma. How will you celebrate Halloween 2021 in OKC? Will you wear an elaborate costume on a night out with friends? Will you take the kiddos trick-or-treating? Will you seek out scary movies, candy, autumnal nature exhibits, or all of the above?

Whatever October has in store for you, we’ve got lots of ideas for how you might celebrate the spookiest month of the year in Oklahoma City. Read on to find out about the best Halloween events near you in OKC:

Put the BOO in Booze Cruise on a Spooky OKC River Cruise

This Halloween, take to the seas (and by seas, we mean the river) for an unforgettable evening of wicked merriment. On Fridays and Saturdays throughout October, Oklahoma River Cruises hosts a Haunt the River event. Put on your costume (extra points if you dress as a pirate) and step aboard a decorated boat where you’ll enjoy music, a cash bar, and appetizers. This event is 21 and up.

Explore the Wicked Forest of Horror

There are many haunted houses to choose from in Oklahoma City, but if you’re struggling to choose the best one, it’s hard to beat the Wicked Forest of Horror. This 13+ haunt sets you on a terrifying journey through an eerie forest where ghouls and ghosts shriek through the night. Want to go above and beyond? Look for special experiences like the Wicked Casket Experience that challenges you to lay down inside a coffin with the lid closed. Want a more kid-friendly alternative? Book tickets for Tiny Terror, a not-so-spooky (but still very festive) walk through the forest before dark and without the scary characters.

Take a Trip to Pumpkinville at Myriad Botanical Gardens

From October 8-24, Myriad Botanical Gardens is host to one of Oklahoma City’s best fall events. Pumpkinville features beautiful displays of gourds, haystacks, flowers, and of course, lots of pumpkins. You can also play games, ride a carousel, and indulge in Halloween treats. There are also family-friendly activities like pumpkin painting, face painting, crafts, and story time.

Bring Your Trick-or-Treaters to the 7th Annual Brick-or-Treat Event in Bricktown

Looking for a fun trick-or-treating event in OKC? Head to Bricktown on October 25 from 4-7 for the Bricktown Association’s 7th annual Brick-or-Treat event. This free event includes music, Halloween characters, photo opportunities, and lots of candy.

Experience a Witchy Night of Shakespear with Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park

Shakespeare’s spookiest play comes to life this October in the Shakespeare Garden in the Paseo Arts District in OKC. Featuring outdoor seating in a scenic location, Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park presents Macbeth, a tale of witches, murder, and mystery. Book your tickets and enjoy lawn seating or chair seating. Children under 12 receive free admission.

See a Classic Halloween Horror Film Outside

Poltergeist is a classic 1980’s horror film about an unsuspecting family haunted by a nefarious ghostly presence. If you missed seeing Poltergeist in theaters in 1982 (or you weren’t born yet) now is your chance to experience it like never before: beneath the starry skies at Wells Christmas Tree Farm. For just $6, you can enjoy the spooky film in an outdoor setting. There will also be a bonfire and delicious treats to snack on.
