The Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex has a wide variety of trails for walking, bicycling, horseback riding, off-road bicycling and dirt bike trails.

Trinity Trails – Fort Worth

The Trinity Trails are a system of trails along or near the Trinity River in Fort Worth.  Enjoy more than 40 miles of trails for walking, running, bicycling or horseback riding with the Fort Worth skyline in the background.  Enter the trails at more than 25 parks or other Fort Worth destinations and step out of the city and straight into nature!

Katy Trail – Dallas

This 3.5 mile trail begins near Southern Methodist University and ends at Reverchon Park near the American Airlines Center in downtown Dallas.  Separate lanes for runners and bicyclists are available, plus a soft-surface running path if you’re wary of the bicyclists.  

Oak Cliff Nature Preserve – Dallas

Enjoy 8 miles of hiking and biking trails, and don’t miss the bicycle graveyard!  This 121 acre preserve used to belong to the Boy Scouts and the Oak Cliff neighborhood completely surrounds it.  Enter the preserve from Keist Park or Pierce Street.

North Shore Trail – Lake Grapevine

North Shore Trail at Grapevine Lake is a 9 mile hiking and biking trail running from Rockledge Park to Twin Coves Park on the north side of Lake Grapevine.  If you’re a hiker, beware of the bicyclers zipping down the trail which is narrow at points.

Cedar Hill State Park – Cedar Hill’

This State Park has 1200 acres crisscrossed with hiking and biking trails.  The trail is called the DORBA Trail, named for the volunteers of the Dallas Off Road Biking Association.  Cedar Hill State Park is located just 20 miles from downtown Dallas, but feels like a world away!
