Our small city might feel rural, but it has grown to almost five times the size it was in 1990. With low crime rates and easy access to Dallas and Fort Worth, it is no wonder families and professionals choose to settle down in our area. See what makes our city special!

Train & Grain History

Two major railroad lines run through the center of Saginaw—operated by Union Pacific and BNSF. The railways have been the city’s driving support for industry since the late 1800s when the railroad made Saginaw its last stop on southbound routes to Fort Worth. Since then, the city grew its grain storage and milling facilities from the opportunities. Saginaw’s Ardent Mills Flour Mill (Cargill, Inc.) originated as Burrus Mills, which acted as the broadcasting location for western swing band “The Lightcrust Dough Boys.”

Things to Do in Saginaw

There are year-round opportunities for fun, adventure, and community. The City of Saginaw hosts its Train & Grain Festival in October—It has something for everyone with live music, a bake-off, and activities for the kids.

Get Outside

Saginaw has seven parks spread across the area for you to enjoy recreation activities. Get outside for some fresh air, or use the facilities to rent for an event. Amenities include pavilions, gazebos, and a softball field (Willow Creek Park). Kids can choose from the city’s selection of park playgrounds, and parents can take advantage of the Community Center, Recreation Center, and Aquatic Center for other physical activity opportunities for the entire family.

Eagle Mountain Lake is another must-see Saginaw attraction, about 20 minutes away. The reservoir and surrounding landscape provide a beautiful scene for hiking, swimming, fishing, and playing. The lake spans about 8,700 acres with room for fun for every season. Lake Worth is another body of water just south of Eagle Mountain Lake that gives you easy access to boating, fishing, and adventure.

A Short Drive Away in Fort Worth

  • Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District – What was once a livestock market is now a huge celebration of Texas’ cattle industry, home to shopping, entertainment, and a variety of saloons. Find handcrafted boots, cool off with a pint in one of the western-themed bars, and visit the weekly rodeo!
  • Texas Motor Speedway – Another classic Fort Worth stop is Texas Motor Speedway. Whether you get to see a race or stop in for a racing experience, it is one to add to the bucket list.
